A Parade for a President Who Deserves Nothing But a Reality Check

So apparently, the U.S. military is planning a massive parade in D.C. on June 14th, which also happens to be Donald Trump’s 79th birthday. And let’s be real—this isn’t some humble tribute to the Army’s 250th anniversary. This is a self-serving ego fest for a man who’s done nothing but disgrace the office he once held. I read the article on Hindustan Times and honestly, it made my blood boil. Why are we entertaining this nonsense?

Trump’s obsession with military parades isn’t new. He’s been dreaming of a dictator-style procession ever since watching one in France back in 2017. But what exactly has he done to earn this kind of honor? The man is a racist, sexist, power-hungry bully who couldn’t lead with compassion if it punched him in the face. He’s run the country like a business he bankrupted—and let’s not forget he’s been impeached twice.

This parade isn’t about patriotism. It’s about spectacle. It’s about rewriting the narrative, making it seem like he’s beloved and powerful and still relevant. But in reality, it’s all smoke and mirrors. Real leadership doesn’t demand pageantry. It shows up in action, service, and humility—three things Trump has never shown the American people.

Meanwhile, veterans are still fighting for adequate benefits, working-class families are being crushed under inflation, and our healthcare system is crumbling. But sure, let’s throw millions of dollars into a military parade to honor a man who continues to divide and damage this country. Makes total sense.

And the worst part? It’s not even fully planned out. Arlington officials haven’t received formal requests. There are no real logistics. It’s like the whole thing was scribbled on the back of a napkin during a tantrum. But because Trump’s name is attached, we’re all supposed to take it seriously?

The hypocrisy is exhausting. This is a man who actively encouraged violence, downplayed a pandemic, disrespected immigrants, and pitted Americans against each other. And now, we’re supposed to sit back and watch him march around D.C. like some war hero? No thanks. I’d rather see those resources go to education, mental health care, or literally anything that improves people’s lives.

I’m all for honoring the military—but this ain’t it. This is a birthday bash disguised as patriotism. It’s about vanity, not valor. And quite frankly, it’s offensive to everyone who actually serves this country with integrity.

We don’t need tanks on the streets. We need accountability, empathy, and a leader who gives a damn about people over power. Until then, I’ll be skipping the parade and holding out hope that this country stops falling for the same tired showmanship.
